In
this long disunited America, we are not our
brothers’ and sisters’
keepers.
How
does the world’s self-proclaimed “most
advanced” form of
civilization get to the point where cities
like Jackson, Mississippi,
and Flint, Michigan have undrinkable water
systems? Major and
not-so-major cities from all regions are in
dire need of basic
infrastructure upgrades - the highways,
byways, bridges, and tunnels
across these all so very divided United
States are crumbling…and
the question is, why? What stops America
from investing in America
and Americans?
Pure
greed, and now even more so, because we
ain’t all White.
Walt
Disney
was a strong proponent of the Monorail as a
solution for a
mass transit system, and was in favor of a
1960 proposal to build a
Monorail System for the Los Angeles Basin.
It is one which can be
copied and already could have been expanded
all across the nation,
all across the continent. A reliable system
such as the monorail,
already could have cut automobile ownership
and use by 30%. Perhaps
motivated by this potential, Standard Oil,
Firestone tires, Ford,
Chevy, Mobil all opposed the project and
exerted political pressure,
end of story. End of progress. The American
citizens remain trapped
in traffic, at the mercy of Big Oil, and Big
car.
Lake
Powell and Mead are not merely iconic
aquatic desert playgrounds but
also providers of electrical energy for
millions of Americans across
the Southwest, the Pacific coast, and the
lower Rocky Mountain
empire. They’re both going dry and still the
God Ol’ Boy
establishment denies climate change.
America’s
train system, both freight and passenger, is
straight out of the
early 20th century.
The
public education system is a travesty. As an
institutional production
line, they are manufacturing Pintos,
Mavericks, Vegas, Mustang II,
and Yugos - yep, it’s a joke. Black and
Brown kids with high school
diplomas and their 3 “Rs” are at the
7th-grade middle school
level.
The
health
industry, from Big Pharma to designer
boutique hospitals that
were severely out-staffed during the
Pandemic, is designed to
generate obscene and obese profits.
It’s
as
if the all-mighty powers that be, the
aristocratic ruling class,
the elitist, and the investor class, those old
enemies of peace, prosperity and
tranquility really
don’t
give a damn about America, be it the land,
air, water or the
people.
I’d
argue this detachment was obvious, at least
dating back to the Great
Depression, as FDR said,
“We
had
to struggle with the ‘old enemies of
peace’ - business and
financial monopoly, speculation, reckless
banking, class antagonism,
sectionalism, war profiteering. They had
begun to consider the
Government of the United States as a mere
appendage to their own
affairs. We know now that Government by
organized money is just as
dangerous as Government by organized mob.
Never before in all our
history have these forces been so united
against one candidate as
they stand today. They are unanimous in
their hate for me - and I
welcome their hatred.”
FDR’s
enlightened
thinking, that mentality, is now rare in
American
politics.
By
the
late 1950s, then President Eisenhower was
warning the American
people, the little people, of the military/industrial
complex’s
greed. By the
late 1960s and early 1970s, their cutthroat
capitalist priorities
went beyond influencing Wall Street.
Instead, they set the tone,
feel, and flavor by believing in little more
than get
rich
or die trying.
Corporate
America abandoned and betrayed the then more
vastly snow-white
American working ants and bees by shipping
“Breadwinner” gigs to
the four corners of the globe in order to
reduce labor costs and
increase investors’ profits.
This
is
Ronnie “666”
Ray-Gun’s USA,
the
America my generation sadly crafted. The
American Dream
was all
about money and class. Now, take this
attitude and couple it with the
last 35 years of the darkening
of
America, the browning
of
America. The “little
people” are now over 50%
“of color.”
So with
that noted, the ruthless ruling class has
concluded, they don’t
even have to throw more than breadcrumbs off
their big table and
still sleep at night.
What
loyalty do you think the aristocrats harbor
for working-class
Americans of color? None.
America’s
leaders
could revive the
Civilian Conservation Corps,
or CCC, which was an iconic program designed
to put Americans to work
during the Great Depression. Camps were
built throughout the country
to house workers. Undeniably, we have a
homeless problem, displaced
Americans who need a job, a mission, a
purpose, direction, hope, and
a pathway to the elusive
American Dream. We
could
address these issues, but the brain trust
and the cats who hold the
purse strings, the wallet, couldn’t give a
you-know-what.
What
could be done - rebuild the country, rebuild
men and women - but the
WASP-dominated ruling class has no interest
in doing this, and that
disconnection and indifference is multiplied
and magnified because
America is a nation in racial transition.
A
summation of what CCC did:
“Enrollees
came
into the camps of the district
undernourished and underweight,
disappointed, disheartened, of low morale,
disgusted with the world
in which they found themselves,” an
official report of the time
said. “In the Civilian Conservation Corps,
they were clothed and
fed; given worthwhile work to do; were
enabled to assist their loved
ones financially; were counseled and
guided. They learned to work and
to laugh and to play and thus regained
their self-respect. They
returned to their homes better prepared to
assume their duties as
citizens of the United States.”
Instead,
the investor class is happy with a country
of semi-educated consumers
to pimp, exploit and fleece, from the Dollar
Stores, firewater
shacks, fast food chains selling crap as
food, CVS stores, and payday
loan outfits, to opposing any and all forms
of organized labor
unions, and worker solidarity.
Because
of
race and culture, most of the 90% White
Investor class struggles
with the fantasy that people of color are
equal to WASPs in all
intellectual and spiritual matters which
matter. Millions simply just
don’t buy it. And if they do accept we’re as
human as they are,
well, then it’s clear we’re not nearly as
civilized as White
folks. Thus, we have a few different nations
within one nation -
multiple Americas, i.e., White America, new
suburbia, versus inner
city, Black America. The heartland vs the
ghetto vs deep suburbia vs
the barrio. Red America vs Blue America,
Fly-over USA as opposed to
the Coastal Megalopolises - to name a few.
This
form
of segregation is strategic, and most can be
attributed to
“White flight,”
White
disinvestment, White financial
abandonment, and
White resistance to social unification.
Maybe most precisely, deem it White
supremacy, the
deliberate isolation, deliberate racial
segregation - tactically
insulated from the advancements derived from
civil and human rights,
i.e., all signs of progress: diversity,
inclusion, equality, and all
the high-minded notions and ideas Trump’s
America despises.
If
they
can reclaim “their” personal property -
America, and remake
it, transform it back to 1952, well then
yeah, they’ll upgrade,
refurbish and modernize the entire land,
if only White folks benefit. Their
dilemma is, “how do you turn back the hands
of time, and place ‘the
help’ back in their assigned places?”
The
fear
of having to “mix ’n mingle” with what they
regard as
human riffraff,
the fear of being replaced, of having their
utopia strong-armed from
them prompts the sky-is-falling responses
like deportation,
incarceration, extradition, expulsion,
banishment, internment, or
perhaps being sent back to “wherever in the
hell we all come from,”
or perhaps good ol’ all-American
genocide?
Either
way,
they are hell-bent on taking back America
and making it Nordic
snow-white.
