Difficult Choices - What's the best of BC By Peter Gamble, Publisher, BlackCommentator.com

This year during our summer hiatus in August we decided to do something different. Rather than suggest you take some time to search BC using the power of Google, we decided to do it ourselves and present the results over a four week period. This week we feature a selection of some of the past BC cover stories.

The exercise was very enjoyable. It was also self-serving because we hope what you see this month will remind you of the unique perspective offered by BlackCommentator.com. There is nothing else quite like BC on the WWW. The diversity we offer as part of the movement for social justice, economic justice and peace on issues affecting African Americans and the African world can not be found anywhere else.

If you are able to give us a hand financially please do it today by clicking here or on the button below. Getting through the summer is always a struggle and this year is worse than usual as we are certain you know.

We know from the email we receive our diversity means not every reader likes everything we present. But we also know that every column and every writer has its fans.

We think you will enjoy this issue. Please let us know if there is anything in particular you think should be on the Best of BC list.

Over the next four weeks please continue to visit BC and check out the breaking news we are publishing on Twitter. You do not have to have a Twitter account to see what we are doing. We continue to update items on Twitter as our Editorial Board members, Columnists and writers peruse the Web and find items of importance from sources we trust. So when you have a moment and want to get online to find out what the latest news of interest is - just go to BC and visit our Twitter page by clicking on the BC_Nation on Twitter box. We will be updating the headlines often on BC, but for the latest, go directly to our Twitter page which is located at: http://twitter.com/BC_Nation.

Checking what BC Tweets does not put any extra messages in your email box. It's our way of providing an extra service of breaking news items - many of which will end up as the subjects of commentaries on BC.

If however, you want to get the latest "tweets" from BC_Nation you can get a free Twitter account and become a "follower". We promise never to send out a tweet to inform you if we are going out to get an ice cream cone or any other frivolous behavior.

A Denial of Service Attack Knocked Twitter Offline for several hours (ET) on the morning of Thursday, Aug 6, 2009. We have no idea if the use of Twitter by leftist groups like BC had anything to do with it. Click here for the latest status report on Twitter.

Thanks very much for your readership.
