Ponder this point if you will.
What if you knew you, as an
individual, the skin-color you just happened to be born with is
obviously and undeniably guilty of building an empire with the land,
labor, blood, sweat and tears of people you “used,” i.e.,
pimped and exploited. What if you, as a White person, knew
that your people had waged genocide upon various racial groups in
order to establish and entrench themselves as kings of the world?
What if you knew your “side” had essentially rigged the
“game of life” so that you, and people who look like you
won, and everybody else lost. What if you knew, just because of how
the game is played, you just happened to enjoy a secure upbringing,
obtain a quality education - your parents, and their parents, and
their parents before them benefited from home-ownership, a network of
colleagues and fellow alumni and fraternity/sorority relationships…
And these were society-wide perks and benefits which were
deliberately, strategically and intentionally denied Americans-of
color by the, or rather your established, entrenched White male power
structure?
Now I ask, what if, as a
European-American (White folk) you understood most Black and Brown
people knew-of the vast atrocities which were committed against them,
and they understood what diabolical deeds your descendants - from
pilgrims to your WASP grandparents were guilty of - but nevertheless
you, as a White person simply chose to minimize, rationalize,
marginalize and ultimately justify, and then go on to dismiss the
impact, ramifications and by- products of such injustices.
I would submit, if I was a White
person, who knew and understood the story of America -
I'd probably own an arsenal of guns, bombs, bazookas and a
mini-tank...
Look, just based on US History
101, most White folks are, I believe justified to feel like “gee,
golly winkers, if I had been treated like Black people - enslaved,
and then for another 100 plus years treated as 4th class
semi-citizens, I might be a little pissed and disgusted.”
Or, I imagine some White folks must calculate; “wow, if I were
Mexican-American, and my family was here hundreds of years before the
pioneers, yet I am told to ‘get the hell out of here and go
back to my country…’ I may be upset by that type of
hostility.”
See I believe White folks simply
understand what they are guilty-of, and how they obviously unfairly
dominate and prosper within a rigged society - so much so they say to
themselves, “if I were in their place, in their shoes, I’d
be mad as hell and not willing to take this type mistreatment any
longer.”
I’d suggest most White folks,
just based on the empty gun shelves at WalMart, are waiting on Black
and Brown folks to wake-up, stand-up, step up and jack some white
folks up, because, in their own minds, they know what they are
guilty-of, and what some people, perhaps the whole world would
consider as justifiable retribution. Some people know when they have
a butt kickin’ comin’.
White America has understood exactly
and precisely what they are undeniably guilty-of for centuries, and
centuries...and centuries. That’s a-lot of vented-up righteous
paranoia.
However, the kicker is that
Americans of color who have been unquestionably shafted and screwed
by White colonialism and supremacy just want to be friends.
Unbelievable isn’t it.
It is with all sincerity I say
Americans of color, i.e., Black, Brown, Red and Yellow Americans want
to make America the greatest country on the planet, even
though we’ve been put through genocide, enslavement,
internment, imprisonment and discrimination. Even after going
through the entire American aggression portfolio of dastardly deeds,
we still buy-into the all-so convoluted and conflicted concepts of,
freedom, democracy, liberty and justice for all. We want to be
Americans.
However the 70 million plus who
backed Grand Poo-bah Trump won’t let us. It appears they don’t
want us to be Americans. Trump’s cult won’t let the
nation grow and evolve into the paradise it claims to be for
all humankind. Instead, apparently America is the sole possession of
White men - the rest of us are here merely because they allow us to
be here - we are the “help”, interlopers, trespassers,
uninvited guest, lifelong “out of towners” - but if
nothing else we are unwelcome “outsiders.”
We Americans, we Americans-of-color,
whose descendants laid the foundation and infrastructure for this
decadent empire, who provided the blood-soaked land, who labored at
the end of a whip from “can’t see in the morning”
to “can’t see” at night providing the backbone, we
supplied the blood, sweat and tears, we are from those who “worked
their fingers down to their elbows” to construct this empire.
We. the little people, the unwashed masses, the rank n’ file
everyday worker ants and bees are amazingly the true patriots who
embrace the exalted founding fathers and their high-minded way of
living. We believe in the Bill of Rights. Most people-of-color
believe in the idealistic notion of an American way of life -
hard work and working yourself up from wherever you are. Most aspire
for the conventional, traditional American Dream, i.e., a
little pink house, 2.5 kids and vacations to the Grand Canyon and
Disneyland every few years.
However, instead of welcoming us...
mainstream USA wants to return the nation to the good ol’
days of separate and unequal in all matters which matter -
a land where White privilege rules the land. And they are, according
to them, more than willing to use might, instead of right.
Americans-of-color love America, but
America, White America, Trump’s America… does not love
us. Not in the least bit. Never have and may never. That’s why
they have created militias, and play at war endlessly. They believe,
at some point “push will come to shove” and they must be
“locked, cocked and stocked” - both barrels. They
have nightmares about America going-up in flames like Rhodesia, where
Euro-Americans walk around, check-it, in their own country
like they were 2nd class quasi-citizens or visitors.
So, with that nightmare never out of
their little-minds, White America has embraced and adopted the dying
NRA’s creed: "I'll give you my gun when you pry (or take)
it from my cold, dead hands!" It does not matter if there’s
a school shooting, a supermarket shooting, a mall shooting. It does
not matter to the Trumpian political cult who will never leave
themselves unarmed in the face of what they believe is the big
payback.
