The weekly Internet publication www.BlackCommentator.com enters its third year providing commentary, analysis and investigations on issues affecting African Americans with the publication of issue number 85 on April 8, 2004.

BlackCommentator.com published its first issue on April 5, 2002 as a monthly and quickly moved to every other week. On November 21, 2002, became a weekly - publishing every Thursday.

"As we move into our third year we will continue to use this marvelous tool called the Internet for social change," said Glen Ford, Co-Publisher. "We will also continue to act as social demographers using the Internet as a kind of map," adds Peter Gamble, Co-Publisher, "gathering together groups and individuals who share a common interest and communicate with them, directly and instantaneously, about the struggle for social and economic justice."

"During our second year readership has more than doubled," said Ford."We are now averaging 50-thousand page views per issue and over 200-thousand impressions each month. This is more than twice what we reported one year ago."

"Our impressions are remarkably intensive. Audience loyalty to and identification with is phenomenal," said Ford. "The most compelling aspect of our data is the length of time our visitors spend reading The Black Commentator. The average visit length is over 20 minutes, the median visit length exceeds seven minutes and the average number of page views per visitor is now over 2.7 ."

"We believe our success is due to the fact that we are deeply rooted in the nation's HBCUs and among Black and Africa-oriented academia formations. Our click through data confirms no less than 30% of readers hold advanced degrees," said Gamble.

"We understand our growth is a result of our penetratation of the leadership ranks of every organized sector of Black America," said Gamble. We connect with African Americans in politics on the grassroots level as well as local, state and federal elected officials. The outreach of extends also into labor, business, media, professional bodies, fraternities and sororities and faith-based progressive activism," added Gamble.

"BlackCommentator.com is widely quoted in the general media and ranks among the handful of 'most-posted' Black sites," said Ford. has multiplied its audience while maintaining and deepening its 'influencer' profile."
