The mosaic patterning in this piece creates a tiled landscape. The sea and the sky are all shown as "tiles" while the dancers playfully celebrate beneath a graceful archway. The dancers reflect the love of dance by the Africa American people. The tradition of dance is strong in the African American, Afro-Cuban, Carribean and African communities. It is a tradition that links back to African roots, and it is one of the most beautiful expressions of spirit in the African American people. The dancers in this piece have lovely patterns in their garments, and are surrounded by a mist of flowing dots. The palette is very cool and blue, with wonderful detail. This piece is very decorative and is strongly influenced by Haitian and African art.
