Limbaugh Must Go Down
Sharp n' Blunt

Yet another nail in Rush Limbaugh’s coffin...

Rush Limbaugh, unequivocally both the poster-boy for this nation’s many angry White folk’s, and Grand Poobah of the Republican TEA Party, alas their Superman, actually their Super White-man, who just may have inadvertently opened a can of kryptonite or Collard Greens...

Limbaugh’s reckless insults last week towards Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke have gotten Rush, the official voice of angry, paranoid White America, into hot water.

What does it say about the college coed Susan Fluke, who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex? What does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex... She's having so much sex she can't afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex. What does that make us? We're the pimps.

But hang on; before you think that’s a vivid example of his sexist, racist and elitist mind at work, wait, yes, there’s more. Rush has a history, a track record of slighting all the “little people” whom he deems beneath him:

”Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.”

[When a Mexican won the New York Marathon] “An immigration agent chased him the last 10 miles.”

“They’ re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?”

-- Limbaugh referring to Blacks.

“Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream.”

“The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.

“Take that bone out of your nose and call me back.”

(Rush talking to an African-American female caller.)

“Women were doing quite well in this country before feminism came along”

“The most beautiful thing about a tree is what you do with it after you cut it down"

And that’s but a sampling, a small handful of some of the comments Limbaugh has made over the years.

At this point, after Limbaugh’s sexist comments to Ms. Fluke and his half-assed apology, you’ve still got the following enterprises which have correctly abandoned Rush - AOL, Lear Capital, LifeLock.Quicken Loans, Tax Resolutions Services, sllep Train, pro Flowers, Carbonite, Sleep Number Beds, Auto Zone and Legal Zoom... but there are a few more I’d like to see added to this list...

The business relationship Rush enjoys with the NFL, NBA, MLB and the NCAA via his enormous corporate distributor, Clear Channel, which allows Rush to share both the massive radio stage they provide him - hundreds upon hundreds of radio stations - as well as the gigantic audience these stations garner because of their relationships with the professional sports industry as well as major colleges.

Here at the foot of the majestic Rockies where I dwell, “The Rush Limbaugh Show” benefits from the mega audience the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies and Colorado University Buffalo's gather for him. His show is highly promoted during games by the official, I say, “official” voice of all three - the 50,000 watt blowtorch 850 KOA.

I’m truly disappointed by the apathy and complacency of college students at CU. You’d think they’d object to being associated with and doing business with Rush... Perhaps this incident will turn into a 2:37, in the AM wake-your-ass-up-call for them and other sportsfans.

Rush is the daily “draw” for KOA, a station which personifies “Redneck Radio.” Michael “the Big Easy Butcher,” infamous head of FEMA during the Katrina aftermath, is the “nighttime voice... need I say more? KOA touts itself as the “face” of the Rockies, Broncos and... Rush. And please note, Denver is not the only city where the pro teams and Rush maintain this peculiar relationship, you can find these strange bedfellows in cities across the country.

Translation: Rush is riding the backs of Afro-American sportsmen at every level, pimping and exploiting their glitter, gleam, fame, their names, their popularity - in order to attract the largest audience possible. Rush is “using” these players as pawns. He ridicules and belittles Black folks virtually everyday, but nonetheless gains from the fruits of their efforts.

My question is, at what point does the NFL, MLB or NBA demand their sports productions not be advertised nor promoted during or around the Rush Limbaugh Show? When do their players’ unions at least question why they are business partners with one of the most racist, sexist and elitist man in America, who regularly drops bombs like this:

“I mean, let’s face it, we didn’t have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark...”

Need I say more? Probably not, but I do need a few white folks to “interpret” exactly what these remarks are. Clean it up a little... tell me what the fat hooded-one really meant. Better yet, I’ll need Clarence Thomas, Michael Steel or Allen West - all who obviously speak fluent “Redneck” to decipher these comments, rationalize, minimize and pathetically justify such statements as “Oh Shucks, that’s just Mr. Rush being Rush...

You political minded people need to realize you can’t escape the inter-woveness of society; sports, as an institution doesn’t merely reflect the good n’ bad, the ills n’ woes of our society, but provides you “Revolutionaries” with a tool, an avenue to level the American playing field, and bring down your sworn enemies.
