PLEASANT
Is a multifaceted visual artist who mines his rich experiences as
an emotional three dimensional individual. He has created a body
of work that is chilling, yet beautiful.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, Pleasant grew
up in a highly cultured environment. His father, William Pleasant,
was a popular
regional painter, and his mother was a distinguished educator.
Pleasant left Savannah in 1986 and began a fine arts training odyssey
that led him to Oberlin College, Pratt Institute and ultimately,
New York City's renowned School of Visual Arts (SVA). Although Pleasant
was originally accepted into the Rhode Island School of Design, he
decided to remain in the cosmopolitan environment of New York City.
At SVA, he blossomed as an artistic iconoclast, while at the same
time assimilating the best that the modern painting movement had
to offer.
In New York City, Pleasant studied under the tutelage of many leading
visual artists and scholars. Since then, Pleasant has endeavored
to discover and cultivate his own unique voice. His latest endeavor
is his interest in psychology and its merging with visual representation.
Pleasant currently lives and works in New York City, Savannah Georgia
and the European Union.
