Our ‘Crazy Uncle’ Donald Trump, the current President of the United States, is sane. His questionable and strange behavior of late is a distraction designed to lull Democrats and their allies into a deep political sleep. He is working in tandem with his Attorney General, William Barr.

As noted in earlier columns, Trump and Barr are committed to stealing this election by any means necessary - cheating, voter suppression, manipulation of the United States Postal Service (USPS), and the federal courts. They are hell bent on returning to the Oval Office and losing on November 3rd is beyond their beliefs.

The continuation of the Imperial Presidency they have created is the legacy that they wish to leave their successor, who they hope is Trump in a third term if they can pull it off, or one of Trump’s children: Ivanka or Donald Jr. Eric, the slow one, is not considered presidential material.

This is the plan, as outlandish as it seems. Like a magician in a magic show, Trump’s antics are orchestrated to keep our eyes off the devious political activities that he and Barr are carrying out in plain sight. Their not-so-subtle collective strategy is to keep us focused on Trump’s outrageous behavior.

The shiny object of the Barr-Trump affection is a stoking of White racism that could one day become an inferno akin to the apocalyptic 8,600 California wildfires, 22 of which remain, that have devastated over 4.1 million acres and required placing over 10,000 firefighters on the front-lines.

Trump and Barr are aggressively reaching for political Apartheid by catering to White nationalism which they perceive to be on the rise in our nation. Barr said that wearing masks was as bad as slavery while Trump has stood by the White extremists Proud Boys, QAnon, and David Duke.

Noting the nation’s rapid demographic transition from majority-White to majority-minority (projected to occur by 2050 or earlier), Trump and his campaign operatives are pursuing and promoting White nativism. With steady declines in support nationally and in the battleground states, Trump is enthusiastically playing the race card.

He is in dire need of a strategy to turn the race around. Thus, Trump is pulling out all tactics at his disposal to throw the election to the courts: Bush-Gore Deja vu. He is certain that he can prevail there because, like Don Corleone in Godfather I, he has a pocket full of federal judges all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to vote in his favor.

Fortunately, the Biden-Harris campaign now appears to have its political eyes wide open. Jen O’Malley, the campaign manager, has recently stated that despite polls showing “… a double-digit lead over Trump nationally and smaller but consistent leads in battleground states… the contest is a lot closer.”

O’Malley is taking nothing for granted as the campaign closes in on its final two weeks. And Errin Haines, Editor–at-large of the 19th also notes “… the challenge is voter suppression versus voter turnout.” But a larger issue is whether the Biden-Harris campaign has the proper safeguards against dirty tricks.

Trump’s call for Barr to indict Biden, Hillary, and Obama is another diversion he uses to keep us focused on something other than what is actually going on. However, the Biden-Harris campaign has retained Bob Bauer, Obama’s former White House Counsel, and a legal wizard, to coordinate legal responses to any of the Barr-Trump shenanigans.

He has already trained his legal sights on devious schemes in the USPS which Congressman James Clyburn (D-SC) reported on MSNBC’s Morning Joe last Tuesday. A postal worker informed him of numerous underhanded procedures USPS is employing to delay and sabotage mail ballots and to cause them to be nullified from the count.

Barr and Trump are using every devious and illegal trick in the book to pull out a victory: U.S. Attorneys, Secretaries of State, State Attorneys General, Federal District and Appeals Court Judges, state legislative leaders, and the untraceable distribution of dark get-out-the-vote money. Their billionaire’s boys’ club backers’ net worth has increased exponentially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bottom line is that our so-called ‘crazy uncle’ Donald J. Trump is completely sane since he has been recovering from his bout with the coronavirus. Like the mob bosses who went to court in their pajamas, wheelchairs, or with oxygen tanks to confuse and evoke sympathy from jurors, President Trump is attempting to game the system.

The Biden-Harris campaign must escalate its efforts to turn out Black and Latinx males as they were the deciding factors in the 2016 Trump triumphs in Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin where his margin of victory was less than two points. They either voted for Trump or stayed home.

As the race tightens in the battleground states, it will be necessary that the Biden-Harris campaign and their legal guru, Bob Bauer, constantly monitor Barr-Trump election actions and be prepared to go to court in multiple states on a moment’s notice. It will take all of this and more to secure the victory that Biden-Harris are likely to win.
