There are those moments in time when the proper words “fit” the moment, appear to be tailor-cut, if not “custom-designed” for the moment - beyond apropos: I’d submit Frederick Douglass's iconic speech, “What, to the American slave, is your Fourth of July? This piece of American history which is recited and quoted often this time year, is as apt and suitable today as it was yesteryear in the ages of slavery, and later during the era of “American Apartheid” when Mr Douglass penned it.

“What, to the American slave, is your Fourth of July? I answer: a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. To him, your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sounds of rejoicing are empty and heartless; your denunciation of tyrants, brass-fronted impudence; your shouts of liberty and equality, hollow mockery; your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings, with all your religious parade and solemnity, mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy-a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages.”

Damn, those sentiments, still, in the 21st century, accurately and explicitly describe the “America” Trump both reflects and embodies - undeniably so. He is them, they are he. “Gross injustices and cruelty:” Well, with brown, and yes Spanish-speaking black babies in “quasi” concentration camps down on the Rio Grande, while this aspiring tyrant boast about liberty - ain’t that a . . . !

This “Show” Trump’s concocted, his Independence Day Extravaganza, hypocritically delivered from Lincoln's Memorial, their shouts of liberty and equality - a “sham” - for his sounds of rejoicing are empty and heartless, reflecting his swelling vanity. Trump’s breaking-bread and kissing-ass with Putin, Kim, X and MBS, while simultaneously turning a blind-eye to the Hong Kong Revolutionaries out in the streets - this illustrates his brass-fronted impudence. The man is a traitor, in the same cloth as Benedict Arnold. Trump’s waving of the flag and holding-tight the bible, hangin’ with Billy (pimpin’ aint easy) Graham Jr., together their prayers and hymns, sermons and thanksgivings, with all their religious parade and solemnity, it is still mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy - a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages.”Trump’s 4th of JUly “spectacle” is really a KKK rally . . . minus the sheets. Instead they wear suits, ties, police, ICE and Border Patrol uniforms. Trump’s letting the country know, letting Americans-of-color know he’s locked and’ cocked, ready to turn those guns on MSNBC, CNN, the NAACP, La Raza, NOW and MoveOn.org . . . who Trump, his minions and the cult who loves him see as their real enemies.

Yes, Trump’s dastardly deeds ought “disgrace a nation of savages.” But it doesn't. Not even a little-bit! Trump’s backers love him. Just as last century when White folks stood proudly-by taking pictures with the bodies of Black men, women, and children hanging from trees or light post behind them, lynched, raped, beaten, burned, castrated, tarred and feathered, decapitated - you name it - nothing seems to disgrace this nation of . . . dressed-up n’ well spoken savages ! They don’t give a you-know-what. why? As Stockily Carmichael noted; “White America has no conscience . . .

Douglass's words still tragically fit the criminal enterprise which is Trump’s America. . The illegitimate King who has been installed as the “grand pooh-bah of White Man’s Land seems to embody and illuminate the pompous, arrogant, ugly-ass American. Thank God the whole-wide world is witnessing his barbarism on the southern border. That same identical savagery could be waged upon black folks on a whim if Trump gets insulted or pissed off, who’s to say?

More Douglass: “There is not a nation of savages. There is not a nation on the earth guilty of practices more shocking and bloody than are the people of the United States at this very hour. Go where you may, search where you will, roam through all the monarchies and despotisms- of the Old World, travel through South America, search out every abuse, and when you have found the last, lay your facts by the side of the everyday practices of this nation, and you will say to me that, for revolting barbarity and shameless hypocrisy, America reigns without a rival.”

Douglass said “America reigns without a rival ” in this type of savagery. He’s still right. What, maybe Russia, North Korea, Saudi Arabia are amongst their competition in the race for the deepest darkest dungeon? And please note; the big pimpin’ heads of these hell holes are Trump’s boys. Trump wants-to silence the press, imprison his critics and naysayers, and he will imprison little black babies and old folks - if need-be in his small, twisted, bigoted mind.

Mr. Douglass has been dead for over a century, yet his observations apply right here and now. There’s a reason why much of the world is still sadly a ghetto, because interestingly, wherever you go today we see the 21st century US Manifest Destiny doctrine at work, on every continent you’ve got US troops keeping an eye on Uncle Sam’s assets.

Can you say “Imperialism”, under the banner of White supremacy.

Putin and Trump are trying to “take over the world,” they’ve got their tentacles in everyone's pocket. Both empires are funding, underwriting global conflict. Their collective goal is “white global dominance,” by any means they deem required - ain't that, once again - a bitch? Trump is on the verge of stealing the 2020 elections and anointing himself and his dysfunctional family, i.e., “white trash with money” as American royalty. Trump will be King for life if he, Mitch, Hannity and Rush have their wet-daydream come to life.

The truth, straight, no chaser: Ol’ Glory has flown over acts of genocide - from being held high at Indian Massacre's like Wounded Knee, hoisted high on ship’s mask which held hundreds of black slaves in their hull. The “Stars n’ Bars” flew over Japanese Internment Camps and has been held high by Klansmen, who are standing next to Christ’s cross, set a-blaze - while today, in 2019, “post Obama” that flag rationalises, minimizes and justifies ingrained police brutality and executions, nonetheless Trump and his ilk are pulling up their white sheets showing their asses to everyone -and you want me to do what - treat this flag as sacred, representing all that is good, right just and fair? gimme a goddamn break!

No, I’m not going to do it, I refuse they can kiss my black ass - and go to hell - I know what the 4th of July is, means and embodies . . .
