Some issues transcend genres, and can’t be pigeon-toed into one lone category, like sports, music or politics. Colin Kaepernick is one of those rare oddities whose “situation” demands the attention of folks beyond the sports-world . . . those in the “real” world, at the “big table,’ with cloth napkins, in the formal dining room.

How can Black America, including but far-beyond the simple-minded NFL fan-base, the players - former n’ yesteryear, coaches and sports media types, who all together comprise a solid “block” of economic clout, control, societal impact n’ influence, i.e., Black Power. How can we sit quietly by and say nothing, basically not a damn thing about the exclusionary "tar baby" treatment of Colin Kaepernick by the NFL hierarchy?

It’s so, so very quiet that you can hear a rat piss on cotton . . . seriously.

Nobody, as in specifically White male owners, want to touch him, i.e., sign him because allegedly they’ll afraid their vastly snow White fan-base will implode/explode and then abandon the franchise, with the team eternally stuck to him. He’s allegedly, supposedly “toxic” because he doesn't “love America,” he won’t stand for the national anthem, place his hand over his heart when the national anthem is sung, therefore he’s unpatriotic. Please Mr White man, spare me.

Frederick Douglass just delivered this biting and yes fitting quote related to “Ol Glory” and a Black person having “blind US patriotism” last week on Bill Maher: ”What, to the American slave, is your Fourth of July? I answer: A day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. To him, your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sounds of rejoicing are empty and heartless … your shouts of liberty and equality, hollow mockery … a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages.

The only question is “in whose eyes is Colin “toxic?” Who regards him as a traitor? Donald Trump and his deplorable band of racist, sexist, elitist rednecks? Is it old White men, and their (yes personal possession) mindless White women who’re insensed that an “uppity” Njgger won’t play along with the tall-tale “this land is your land . . . this land is my land” bs company line?

I’d submit President Trump is the actual treasonous traitor, the 21st century Benedict Arnold aspiring to be some twisted concoction of Nixon and Putin, much more loyal to his nordic viking race than the high kumbaya notions of this nation rather than Colin Kaepernick. Kap, refusing to bow to a symbol of oppression, tyranny and imperialism, i.e., “Ol Glory” is more American then Trump or any of those in his crime family.

Now’s the moment for Black men to grow a set. And open our eyes, look beyond the gridiron folklore and realize Black men are there mindless, spineless whores, men who come with a price, you can by their silence and loyalty, even in racially polarizing situations like this. It’s too-bad there are no women, no Black women in the NFL, because if there was, one of them, some of them, many of them would have the balls to stand-up and speak-out against a gang of 32 rich white men who‘re undeniably “punishing” Kaepernick for being “uppity,” “militant” and “ungrateful.” They’re inflamed because he doesn't recognize he’s “allowed,” if not “permitted” to play in the White man’s game, This young defiant Black man’s treatment is a form of 100 lashes with the knotted whip, these White men are“making an example” out of Kaepernick, saying to every Black player “ boy, do you see what will happen to you, if you dare to open your mouth”

Where’s the “formal” or “official” outrage from every team's NFLPA player representative? Where’s the righteous, highly justified outrage from every Afro-American sports writer in every NFL city? C’mon folks, when are we going to grow a set, get a clue, understand and comprehend how very heavy this particular situation is.

I issue this plea to the NFLPA’s head, Maurice Smith, baby-bra . . . this type of overt individual exclusion, based on not standing-up for the flag - this is flagrant, irrational and intentional . . . meant to “send a message” to all the other ”boys” who don’t “know their place” as million-dollar gladiator/minstrels “who should be seen, and not heard ” - ( see “moderate” negroes like Joe Louis, Floyd Patterson, George Foreman and OJ Simpson.) And with Black people all wrapped-up and interwoven in this pigskin saga, we can’t stand for this. We must admit what we see, and what we know is going on.

This is not merely the chaining n’ gaging of a Black militant . . it's the public lynching of Colin Kaepernick,

Black Americans – sports fans and not, we need to make a defiant, impassioned stand and not go quietly, sheepishly, if not ignorantly into the night. We can’t just keep playing and watching . . . we can’t be that easily bent-over, the “industrial strength” petroleum jelly (Vaseline) be taken-out of the medicine cabinet and allow ourselves to be insulted, belittled and disrespected,

We, as Black people: coaches, players, sports fans and wordsmiths - this is it. When the you know what hit’s the fan This is the revolt we must engage in ” the fight we must wage, right here n’ right now. This young man can’t be mistreated like we see him being mistreated, and we, as the “human” element of this social equation do not a mother. . . . thang - but look, and maybe talk. No, this is both an duty to those players who came before and had to make a actual physical stand, and this is an opportunity to show the NFL, “no, not today mother . . ., not any more!” The gig is up, the game is over, we’ll sit our Black asses down, not run, jump and play for the White folks pleasure in order to show you. . . you can’t bar this man for not kissing your flag or your red, White n’ blue ass. And if you do exclude him then goddamn it, we’re not going to go quietly along with it.

Black Players ought plan to boycott all this coming Pre-Season games if this man doesn't get a NFL contract by the first game. His numbers, on n’ off the field dictate, mandate he has a job in the NFL. Black people ought not support the NFL, if the league believes Black people should blindly kiss the asses and symbols of White America. And many do - Trump’s chumps who sit at the NFL round table, owners like the Jets Mr. Woody and the Patriot’s Mr. Kraft are “buddies” with The Don, while there are many more within the pigskin country club and they’d like to not stop at merely “making America White again,” they’d like to “make the NFL White again,” ala 1967 or so, seriously.
